I just put some of these in my car. A good 60 second job total. Mk4 Jetta, the back of the headlight structure is held on by two metal brackets, just unsnap them, remove the cover, and there's the bulb.
Anyways, I want to try them out but I have nowhere to go and it's freezing out. Anyone have any experience with these zXe's? Also general headlight, fog light, spotlight, whatever light thread.

You're better off with Osram Nightbreaker, GE Nighthawk Platinum, or Philips Xtreme Vision. NOTE: A bulb with SOME blue glass, like on the ends of the bulb, but not around the filament, is OK. As long as the tint is not around the filament.

What about the Hella miata conversion that uses the H4 I believe. It costs 50 bucks and change for each glass reflector but the bulbs are cheaper to replace which seems like false economy when the stock replacement bulbs are $9 at walmart.

My car uses 9007 bulbs, and is not a Miata. If I was going to spend more money, I would just buy projector housings and not have to worry about what type of bulb to use. I usually use the $9 variety, but thought I would treat myself a little and see if these improved visibility at all, since my current housings are fogging and yellowing.
